PERMICAN – What Is It All About?

PERMICAN stands for; “Prophets Emmanuel and Ruth Makandiwa Invitational Concert Awards Night”

Launched in 2014, the PERMICAN AWARDS is an award ceremony that was created in recognition of Zimbabwean Gospel Artists who evangelize through the art of music.

Looking at the history of the Music Industry in Zimbabwe, most, if not all of the Music Award Events mainly focused on other genres of music and there wasn’t a single Awards Event that honored and celebrated Gospel Music and Gospel Musicians exclusively.

Emmanuel and Ruth Makandiwa identified the need to promote a culture of celebrating Musicians who spread the Gospel of God through the art of Music. And that was the birth of the PERMICAN AWARDS.

The PERMICAN AWARDS are tailor made to honor gospel artists exclusively and they are not denomination affiliated.

Emmanuel and Ruth Makandiwa believe that by appreciating the works and honoring the efforts of Gospel Musicians, the Gospel Musicians will be motivated to continue evangelizing through the craft of music.

Over the years, the PERMICANS have fanned up the culture of celebrating, appreciating and rewarding the rich heritage and legacy of excellence in Zimbabwean gospel music.
